Die Mystic Boer, a beloved Stellenbosch pub, is set to shut its doors this weekend, marking the end of a 21-year journey.
A statement posted on the pub's Facebook page announced its permanent closure and invited patrons to join for a final farewell during its last weekend of operation.
Recognized as a local favorite since its establishment in 2003, Die Mystic Boer has been a hub for students and patrons alike.
The announcement on Facebook expressed mixed emotions, highlighting the venue's role as a bar and platform for various artists over the years.
"We as a bar and venue for countless artists and patrons have had a hell of a run! Not without our downs, (but also with lots of ups) we have come to the end of the road.’
‘We would like to thank each and everyone; from customers to live acts to suppliers and staff who have, over the past 21 years, made “Mystics” what it was and is. Without you we would not have lasted long!’
The post expressed gratitude to customers, performers, suppliers, and staff who contributed to Die Mystic Boer's enduring legacy.
None of the risks are new, but the GNU provides an opportunity for pursuing the end of the cash economy, and with it, some rather sinister global reforms.
